Spain is the only producer of this unique almond; round and plump, sweet and with very low bitterness, the Marcona almond is used predominantly in pastries and baked goods. They are quite famous around the world and very different than almonds here in America - both in flavor and shape. Grown in the Mediterranean coast of Spain - from Malaga to Tarragona, the Marcona is easily recognizable by it's unique light brown, almost holey shell. Totally natural, totally sweet, these Marcona almonds are lightly fried in oil and salted. Absolutely delicious as a snack.

Had tried these almonds many years back, when you could buy them readily in Waitrose, and became addicted to their taste and texture. Had to be included on our Christmas Tapas table, all the family commented on their great taste. Glad I kept a jar back for my own consumption, as they didn’t last long, once put on the table.
These are expensive but excellent. I was served them in a wine bar in Shepherd Market, London and had been searching for them.
